Almost 17 Weeks and More
A lot has happened at our house since we last posted and hopefully one of these days Elizabeth can figure out how to blog at least one day a month so those following can stay a little bit more caught up on our lives. (But it's not a promise.)
Shortly after the last post we had lots of rain and finally on July 7 we had too much and the sewers couldn't handle the downpour so our basement filled up with 6-8 inches of water. Many of John's expensive magic books were destroyed and he lost other magic stuff as well, so we are slowly rebuilding what he lost. Our homeowners insurance didn't include sewage back up so we have added it just in case there is a next time and there is a valve that we need to have put in that keeps water from coming back in. We also had to replace our hot water heater. (It was the first time that Elizabeth even had a desire to live in California again because they don't have to worry about flooded basements.)
Our next adventure was at the end of October when our house was broken into while we were out for the evening. They took a lot of change (Elizabeth saved state and drummer boy quarters, silver dollars, etc.) and our web cam and John had a very old Game Boy. John thinks they might have taken some of his coin tricks too.
And our most recent adventure was that Elizabeth hit a deer on her way to BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) November 9 and totalled her 7 year old Saturn Ion. (We had been hoping to get several more years out of that car, but I guess God had other plans for us.) Thankfully Elizabeth (and baby) and the 3 other ladies (one being John's mother) were all safe and Elizabeth didn't lose control of the car. We replaced our car with a Toyota Corolla and were thankful that we were able to get 0% financing. (Elizabeth was very ready to go back to California after this along with the fact that winter was quickly approaching with snowy/icy roads, but as long as nothing more like this happens for many many years she is very content to stay right here in Iowa.)
The most exciting adventure of all though was getting pregnant in August and seeing God's faithfulness, comfort, sovereignty, and so much more in everything that has happened in our lives this last half of 2010.

Spring Break 2010
Spring Break is here once again! :) And we are headed down to Arkansas to help Elizabeth's sister's family move into their long awaited new home. Today we are busy getting things wrapped up here at home so we won't have any worries while we are away. The snow is quickly melting away and you can once again see both the grass in our front and back yards and the bulbs are starting to spring up. We need to figure out some sort of fence because the rabbits like to eat the tulips and there are already signs that they have been at work this year.
HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY! (a wee bit early, but we have places to go tomorrow!) :)
